INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NFL announced a pair of fines for players from the Indianapolis Colts' 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders last week at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Midway through the second quarter, Colts kicker Spencer Shrader knocked in an extra point, and as his right leg came down and planted, Raiders safety Tristin McCollum crashed into Shrader's knee after diving to block the kick. McCollum was penalized 15 yards for roughing the kicker, which was enforced on the ensuing kickoff. The NFL has now fined him $5,722.
Shrader tore his ACL and MCL on the play, ending a season in which he was the NFL's leading scorer at the time of his injury (53 points). Shrader had also just been named the AFC's Special Teams Player of the Month for September.
On the very next drive, Colts linebacker Joe Bachie was penalized 15 yards for tripping while attempting to bring down Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty. The NFL has fined Bachie $6,500 as a result.
Bachie was also called for a facemask on the play, but only one can be enforced. He was called for three penalties in the game.
"The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game," according to the NFL's operations page.
