Two Indianapolis Colts players were named to Pro Football Focus' NFL Week 1 Team of the Week.
There wasn't much that went right for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in their 41-23 beating at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, in their home confines of Lucas Oil Stadium.
However, a pair of players performed well enough to earn league-wide recognition, as right guard Matt Goncalves and kickoff returner Seth McGowan were named to Pro Football Focus' NFL Week 1 Team of the Week.
Goncalves received the second-best overall grade (91.2) among NFL guards for the week, with an 87.6 in run blocking and a 88.8 in pass blocking.
Goncalves' run block grade ranked fifth among all guards, including Colts left guard Quenton Nelson, whose 87.9 ranked fourth. If the Colts did anything well against Baltimore, it was run the ball.
They accumulated 102 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, all by running back Jonathan Taylor, except for a four-yard run by quarterback Daniel Jones. The performance was even more impressive because the Colts trailed by multiple scores for much of the game.
According to PFF, when running behind Goncalves or between him and center Tanor Bortolini, Taylor picked up 37 yards, four first downs, and both touchdowns on 10 carries.
In pass protection, Goncalves ranked second among guards and allowed zero pressures on 34 pass-blocking reps for a perfect pass-block efficiency rating of 100.0%.

McGowan earned the top grade among all punt and kickoff returners with an 87.3. He returned five kickoffs for 164 yards and a 32.8-yard average, with no fair catches or muffs. His best play of the day was a 66-yard return late in the fourth quarter, which gave the Colts great field position at the Baltimore 30-yard line.
McGowan also had a 52-yard return in the second quarter that put the Colts in Ravens territory, but it was called back due to a holding penalty.
McGowan's total return yardage ranks second in the NFL, and among players who returned at least three kickoffs, his average is third.
The return game was a bright spot for McGowan, but his offense was not. He saw six snaps at running back, all in passing situations, with two calling for him to pass-protect.
He was overwhelmed by blitzers on both pass-block reps, allowing a sack on one and a hit on Jones on the other.
