The Indianapolis Colts (2-3) are gearing up for a potential get-right game at home this Sunday against AFC South rival Tennessee Titans (0-5).

The Colts had won two games in a row before coming back to earth last week in a road loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, falling by a score of 34-22.

The Colts' offense stalled out in the red zone and were powered by five field goals from kicker Spencer Shrader. The defense's issues with tackling reared its ugly head once again.

Indy wants to ensure they have things under control against one of the league's current bottom-feeders.

Colts vs. Titans

  • Date/Time: Sun., Oct. 18, at 1:00pm ET
  • Where: Indianapolis, Ind.; Lucas Oil Stadium
  • Television: FOX — Chris Myers (play-by-play), Jonathan Vilma (color), Jen Hale (sideline)

Tennessee's offense ranks dead last in overall offense (246.4 YPG) and scoring (11.6 PPG); specifically, the passing game ranks 31st (163.8 YPG), and the run game ranks 27th (82.6 YPG).

The Colts' defense struggles to generate a pass rush, so they may not be able to force Titans quarterback Cam Ward into as many mistakes as he has been making. Defensive tackles DeForest Buckner and Adetomiwa Adebawore account for 6.0 of the team's 10 sacks, but the edge rushers combined for just 1.5.

Indy's run defense, though, is capable of playing well. Buckner (5), Grover Stewart (2.5), Adebawore (2), Jerry Tillery (2), and Akeem Davis-Gaither (2) all have multiple tackles for loss.

Defensively, the Titans do well against the run (3.5 YPC, tied for 4th) and don't often surrender big pass plays (tied for 14th), staple attributes of defensive coordinator Gus Bradley's system. Bradley was the Colts' defensive coordinator from 2022-24.

The Colts' offense didn't turn the ball over and was sacked only once last week against Pittsburgh, but their red-zone issues (1-of-3) kept them from staying close enough to the Steelers, leading to a 12-point loss.

While this appears to be a lopsided matchup, it matters greatly to the Colts, who have playoff aspirations but already have three AFC losses on their record. Another loss could seriously hurt confidence, while a win could help them regain momentum heading into a tough road trip next week against the Minnesota Vikings.
