Here is how the ColtsRoundtable staff sees the Week 2 Sunday Night Football matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs unfolding.
The Indianapolis Colts (0-1) hit the road for the first time in 2026 this weekend to take on the Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) in primetime on Sunday Night Football.
Indy is reeling from their first loss, a lopsided 41-23 home defeat to the Baltimore Ravens. The Colts' offense never found a rhythm, and their defense was repeatedly victimized by big plays, all while the team shot itself in the foot with penalties and turnovers.
The Colts badly need to feel better about what they're putting on the field, but the Chiefs looked great last week in a 31-10 beatdown of the Denver Broncos.
Here is how the ColtsRoundtable staff sees Sunday's game unfolding.
Jake Arthur (@JakeArthurNFL): Chiefs 27, Colts 23
"I feel better about this matchup than I did several days ago, but I'm not yet ready to pick the Colts to beat anybody. On offense, it's unlikely that they'll be starting six drives within their own 20-yard line like they did last week, due partly to three special teams return penalties. They also turned the ball over twice in the first half last week, which Baltimore took advantage of for 14 points. On defense, we've heard all week about the alignment and communication issues they had in Week 1. As long as everything doesn't go wrong once again, this will be a more competitive game.
"I predict Jonathan Taylor will be the catalyst for an overall positive offensive performance, but the defense doesn't pressure Patrick Mahomes enough to limit his big plays. The 'Mahomes Magic' will be the deciding factor in this one, leading to a big score late in the game."
Zach Hicks (@ZachHicks2): Chiefs 26, Colts 23
"The Colts are looking to bounce back against the Chiefs in Arrowhead after a lackluster opening week. It's a tall task to win in Kansas City regardless of the season, but the Chiefs appear to be back after a Week 1 blowout over the Broncos. KC's revamped running game alongside an aggressive defense makes them a top contender in the AFC.
"This game should be much closer than last week for both teams, as traditionally 0-1 teams perform noticeably better the following week, and the Colts should be much cleaner on defense with their communication. Even though I predict this to be a back-and-forth bout, I have the Chiefs pulling off the narrow victory due to their X-factors at quarterback and on defense. Their star power is just a bit too much and should provide enough to pull through in the end.
"If the Colts can stop the run and control the clock on offense, though, they have a chance to pull off the upset in Kansas City this week."
