Which of the remaining top 101 NFL free agents fits the Indianapolis Colts best?
Through the offseason program, which culminated in OTAs and a three-day minicamp, the Indianapolis Colts got a sneak peek at what their roster could look like by the time the regular season gets here.
This included position battles for spots, both in the starting lineup and as key rotational contributors. Some of these battles may not feature the most fierce competition, which could pull the Colts back to the free agent market, where they can add more quality competition to the roster.
During the offseason, NFL Daily host Gregg Rosenthal has kept a running tracker of his top 101 NFL free agents and where they've signed. Among the 11 still considered the best available, we'll look at five free agents who could make sense for the Colts. Included is their age at the time the season begins.

After spending his first decade with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, Bosa is now in the "hired gun" stage of his career. He played most recently with the Buffalo Bills in 2025, when he had 5.0 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and a league-leading five forced fumbles in 15 games. He could start for the Colts, but would be best in a heavy rotation, as injuries haven't allowed him to play a full season since 2019.

The Colts are having a competition for their WR3 spot, which Ashton Dulin is currently leading. However, if they don't want to remove Dulin too much from his heavy special teams duties, the Colts could bring in someone from the outside. Despite being over 30, Diggs caught 85 balls for 1,013 yards (11.9 avg.) and four touchdowns last year, in his lone season with the New England Patriots, which was also his first season since tearing an ACL in 2024.

If the Colts want to continue operating a quick-strike passing game, Samuel could be a key component who takes shorter routes and picks up yards after the catch with them. While his days as a multi-purpose threat are becoming less diverse, he can still be productive. He had 72 catches for 727 yards and five touchdowns last year for the Washington Commanders despite quarterback Jayden Daniels having a season ruined by injuries.

If the Colts could get Reddick on a near-veteran minimum contract, he could be an interesting piece of their edge rotation. He hasn't had a productive year since 2023, when he had 11.0 sacks for the Philadelphia Eagles, but if he can provide any sort of juice off the edge on a cheap deal, it would be worth the shot.

Among Rosenthal's list, Clowney may be the most appealing for the Colts. He's another older edge player, but he could start opposite Laiatu Latu, is big (6'5", 266) and powerful, and still productive, giving the Dallas Cowboys 8.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 13 games last year.
NOTE: A name missing from Rosenthal's list who may be one of the most realistic free-agent additions for the Colts is wide receiver Keenan Allen. Despite being 33 years old last season, he caught 81 passes for 777 yards (9.6 avg.) and four touchdowns.
