The Washington Commanders have picked up the second win at home in 2026 after handing the Philadelphia Eagles a 27-10 defeat on Sunday night football

The Washington Commanders picked up its long awaited win on Sunday night football, taking down the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-10, to move to 2-4-1.

It opened with Washington squandering great field position. After Luke McCaffrey's opening kickoff return set the offense up near midfield, consecutive pre-snap penalties on third down ultimately forced Washington to settle for a field goal, a 55 yard attempt that sailed wide right from Drew Stevens.

The Philadelphia Eagles would open the scoring after a 40 yard field goal capped off the second drive, yet with less than six minutes left in the first quarter, Washington would gift Philadelphia another opportunity. Tight end Chig Okonkwo fumbled the first down catch, leading the Eagles to take over just outside of the redzone. Three plays later, the Eagles pushed the lead to 10-0 after running back Saquon Barkley took a direct snap and went untouched for the rushing touchdown.

Drew Stevens would then cut into it after converting a 56 yard field goal to make it a one score game in the second quarter, but quarterback Jayden Daniels would lead the offense on a convincing drive minutes later. After finding Treylon Burks for a 21 yard gain, then Antonio Williams five plays later for a ten yard pickup, a 14 yard scramble by Daniels set the offense up outside of the redzone. After an 18 yard run by Austin Ekeler drove the offense inside the ten, Daniels capped it off by finding Stefon Diggs for an eight yard touchdown, Diggs' fifth of the season, to tie the game at ten.

The Commanders maintained momentum after Dorance Armstrong registered a third down strip sack on Eagles' quarterback Tanner McKee, setting up Charles Omenihu with the recovery. On the opening play of the ensuing drive, Daniels then connected with Treylon Burks for a 53 yard gain, enough to set Drew Stevens up with a 25 yard field goal that extended the lead to 16-10.

With two minutes left, running back Rachaad White capped off the game at home after punching in a one yard score, cementing the 27-10 win.

Washington will host the Los Angeles Rams in week nine with kickoff set for 1 PM ET.
