The Washington Commanders will look to end a seven-game losing streak when they face the Minnesota Vikings on the road. Kickoff is set for 1 PM on FOX.

Washington Commanders (3-9) vs. Minnesota Vikings (4-8)

When: Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025 | 1 PM | US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

    TV: FOX

    Betting: Washington -1.5 | O/U: 43.5 (DraftKings)

The Washington Commanders have had a disappointing 2025 season with a 3-9 record through 12 games. However, this week they get to face the 4-8 Minnesota Vikings with a chance to get some momentum going into the end of the season, starting with quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Noah Brown both active for the first time since week nine and two. As Washington looks to end a seven-game slide, we will take a look into three storylines to watch out for this Sunday that could determine the outcome:

    The kicking game

This season, the Commanders kickers as a whole are 15/21 on field goals but are luckily perfect on PATs. The Commanders cut Matt Gay after he went 2/4 on field goals in the 16-13 loss to the Dolphins in Spain. A game that was very winnable if it were not for the missed kicks. Last week, Jake Moody got the nod to kick for the Commanders and was 2/2 on field goals and 2/2 on extra points. In a game that has two teams essentially out of the playoffs, and are simply looking to get some momentum heading towards the end of the season, the special teams can be an important factor towards a win. And when Minnesota has a kicker that is 21/23 on the season, with both misses only being from 50+ yards, the Commanders will likely need Moody to be at the top of his game to get their fourth win of the season.

Can the Commanders stop the Vikings run game

The Vikings offense is an offense that feeds off of a successful run game so they can set up easy pass plays with the play action pass. This season, in the Vikings three wins, they have averaged 143.7 rushing yards per game. However, in their losses, they have averaged just 84.7 rushing yards per game. If the Commanders are able to stop the run, it will make the Vikings get into third and long situations which is something the Vikings have massively struggled to convert this season. The Vikings are second worst in the league converting just 30% of their third downs offensively. With a quarterback in JJ McCarthy struggling this season and an offensive line that has allowed 43 sacks on the season which is the third highest in the league, stopping the running game of the Vikings will cripple their offense and give the Commanders a very good chance at winning on Sunday.

    The Turnover battle

This season, both the Vikings and the Commanders are at the bottom of the league in turnover differential. The Commanders are third worst in the league with a -8 differential while the Vikings have the worst differential in the league with a -15 turnover differential. The Vikings have committed 2826 turnovers this season which is the most in the league. The Commanders have only caused seven turnovers this season which is tied for second worst in the league with the Giants. If the Commanders are able to get the Vikings in passing situations and force McCarthy to make mistakes and turn the ball over, it should very much help lead them to their fifth win of the season.

The Commanders will be looking to get back to their winning ways and end their seven game losing streak when they visit the Vikings on Sunday. The game is set to kick-off at 1PM and will be airing on FOX.
