After taking a look at the defensive line, the Washington Commanders reportedly met with several defensive backs ahead of the Shrine Bowl this week

With the 2026 Shrine Bowl set for a 6 PM kickoff on Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Washington Commanders have met with a long list of defensive backs after spending time meeting with several defensive linemen earlier in the week:

California CB Brent Austin

At 5-foot-11 and measuring in at 176 pounds, Austin began his career at James Madison under Curt Cignetti where he played 16 games while posting his first career interception in 2023. He then spent 2024 at USF where he started all 13 games and recorded a team-best ten pass breakups before transferring to Cal in 2025. He ended his senior season with no interceptions, but his 12 passes broken up stick out where he showcased himself as a physical cornerback and a third team All-ACC selection. 24 passes broken up over his last three years.

Texas A&M CB Tyreek Chappell

Primarily a slot corner, Chappell drew positive reviews during the week of Shrine Bowl practices after four years of starting experience. Bounced back from a season-ending injury in 2024 to take back over in the nickel, allowing 33 catches for 317 yards and one touchdown on 49 targets, per PFF. Opened his college career named to the SEC All-Freshman team while also named a first team Freshman All-American by The Athletic.

Toledo CB Andre Fuller

After beginning his career at Arkansas Pine Bluff where he played in 11 games in 2021, Fuller transferred to Toledo where he played in all 28 games across 2022 and 2023, totaling 29 tackles and five pass deflections. He missed the 2024 season due to injury, but Fuller bounced back for a strong 2025 season where he ended his career named a First-Team All-MAC selection. Fuller also added 11 passes broken up and finished fourth on the team with 49 tackles, while notching his first career interception as a senior.

Georgia Tech CB Ahmari Harvey

After beginning his college career at Auburn, Harvey blossomed into a key piece of the Yellow Jackets' secondary over the last three seasons, Harvey allowed just 15 catches for 168 yards on 33 targets in 2025. Started every game the last two seasons and ended his career with 27 starts. Physical corner and willing in run support, Harvey has flashed in his one-on-one reps leading up to the Shrine Bowl on Tuesday.

NC State CB Devon Marshall

After playing his first two seasons at Villanova where he registered six passes defended over 800 reps, Marshall transferred to NC State where he became an integral part of the Wolfpacks' secondary over the last two seasons. Marshall started five games in 2024 and registered an interception against Stanford before registering two against Florida State in 2025. Ended his two seasons with NC State with 83 total tackles and 27 passes defended, including 18 in 2025.
