Ahead of Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn addressing the media on Monday after the 2025 season, notes following the regular season finale:
2026 opponents set
With the 2025 regular season officially complete for the Washington Commanders, the opponents for the 2026 season have officially been finalized with standings finalized.
In addition to division games, Washington will host the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons. Washington will also travel to face the Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings.
The Commanders fell against two of those teams - Seattle and Minnesota - by a combined score of 69-14 while five teams - Houston, Seattle, Jacksonville, Los Angeles and San Francisco - are coming off playoff appearances.
What the makeup of those teams looks like in 2026 remains to be seen, but the same could be said about the Commanders.
Washington enters the offseason with more questions than answers as general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn are set to meet with local media on Monday to review what went so wrong in year two under the new leadership.
Veteran LB joins elite company
While future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller etched himself in the record book after notching his 138.5 career sack, tying DeMarcus Ware - his idol. He did exactly that, taking down Eagles' quarterback Tanner McKee inside the final minute. The sack also marked his ninth of the season, hitting a $500,000 contract incentive, but he wasn't the only one.
Veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner finished Sunday's win with five tackles including one solo, pushing him to 2,000 career tackles. He now becomes one of three players to reach the feat, joining former Washington linebacker London Fletcher and former Baltimore and Ray Lewis.
Whether the veteran returns for a third season with the franchise is the biggest question as Wagner enters the offseason on an expired deal, facing uncertainty about what the future holds.
Wagner told reporters postgame that he hasn't thought "beyond today" about what his future holds.
Head coach Dan Quinn said he was "super proud" for Wagner to join elite company in the regular season finale.
"In fact it was a cool moment tonight that I asked London [Fletcher] to be in the locker room as well. So for only three players in the history of our game to have over 2,000 tackles with Ray and London and [Bobby Wagner] now part of it, it's fitting," Quinn said postgame. "He's the best tackler I've coached and so to have that happen, you can see how important we were with the stat line at the half like okay, let's blitz him, let's get him some more tackles. But in true Wags fashion, he will find a way. He's remarkable in so many ways. I showed the team yesterday, [he] just got his MBA from Howard, 4.0. Like of course he did, why would he get a B in anything? That'd be so un-Wags like in so many ways."
