The Washington Commanders have announced the nine undrafted free agents who will join the six draft picks for rookie minicamp, set to begin today
The next stage of the offseason is set to start for the Washington Commanders today with rookie minicamp running through Sunday, May 10th as nine undrafted free agents already signed and several more set to arrive as part of minicamp on a tryout basis.
The Commanders made their nine signings official with wide receiver Jaden Bradley, offensive guard Tanoa Togiai, defensive tackle Jeffrey M'Ba, safety Malik Spencer, running back Robert Henry Jr., tight end Quentin Moore, wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr, cornerback Fred Davis II and kicker Drew Stevens all signed.
The intrigue around several free agents remains whether any can crack the roster with safety Malik Spencer arriving as an intriguing fit after a productive tenure at Michigan State. Chris Hilton Jr. was one who was tabbed as a pick to make the Commanders roster despite struggling with production at LSU, yet the question was whether he would arrive as a wide receiver like he played with the Tigers - including two seasons with Jayden Daniels - or move to defensive back where he spent the bulk of his time during the evaluation process. Yet Hilton was announced as a wide receiver, providing a possible depth addition.
Stevens may be the most intriguing after initially drawing an invite then signing with the Commanders as an undrafted free agent one day later after drawing other interest, giving Jake Moody, who re-signed for a second season, potential competition ahead of preseason.
Washington will also have a handful of others in attendance on a tryout basis in offensive lineman Martes Lewis, long snapper Ashton Ngo, quarterback Gavin Wimsatt and linebacker Shay Taylor.
Lewis was previously reported as one of two Big Ten products headed to minicamp, while Wimsatt also spent time at Rutgers, like seventh round pick Athan Kaliakmanis, before ending his career at Jacksonville State where he played under Clint Trickett. Wimsatt ended his career with 23 interceptions to 21 touchdowns, completing just 48% of his passes, while adding another 17 touchdowns and nearly 1,100 yards on the ground.
Taylor, meanwhile, began his career at Ohio before transferring to Charlotte in 2025 where he totaled 62 tackles and a pair of sacks.
Of course, the undrafted free agents and tryout players will join the six-man draft class in linebacker Sonny Styles, wide receiver Antonio Williams, running back Kaytron Allen, edge rusher Joshua Josephs, interior offensive lineman Matt Gulbin and quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis.
