The Washington Commanders are set to play their third-ever international game, including second in London

It is now officially official: the Washington Commanders are once again headed across the pond to play in the international games in 2026.

The league announced on Wednesday morning that the Commanders are set to return to play in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 2026 NFL London games, sponsored by NetApp.

This marks the second time that Washington has played in London after doing so in 2016 when they tied the Cincinnati Bengals at 27. The Commanders also returned to play internationally in 2025 against the Miami Dolphins in Madrid, falling 16-13 in overtime in what proved to be a deflating game for Washington.

Jacksonville was also announced as a team set to play a game in London in 2026, while the game in London will also be part of a record setting schedule for the NFL with a record nine international games set to be played in 2026 with four continents, seven countries and eight stadiums featured. The NFL has also scheduled three games to be hosted in London, while Munich (Germany), Madrid (Spain), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Mexico City (Mexico) will each also host a game.

"Last season's trip to Madrid was personally unforgettable, and a tremendous milestone for our organization," said Washington Commanders Managing Partner Josh Harris.

"The NFL London games bring fans together from across the UK and beyond, and play a key role in engaging our existing fans as well as creating new audiences and driving NFL fandom in this market," NFL U.K. & Ireland General Manager Henry Hodgson added via release.

While it was not part of the official announcement, it has been speculated that Washington would be the home team in the 2026 international game, which means one less game will be played at Northwest Stadium in Landover.

"The thought is because Washington was the road team last year, they are going to be the home team for the London game this year," JP Finlay previously reported on 106.7 The Fan. "I had multiple people text me/DM me over the weekend, that not only will Washington host a game in London, but they will stay the week in London, then play the Jags the following week."

With the 2025 season officially complete, that also means the 2026 opponents are officially set with the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons expected to head to Landover. Washington also has non-divisional road games set against the Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans.
