The Washington Commanders have added one of the most intriguing free agent pass rushers after inking former Patriots outside linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson

The Washington Commanders have added another pass rusher, giving themselves one of the more underrated free agents in the fold.

Former New England Patriots edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson has reportedly agreed to a new deal with the Washington Commanders, becoming another key piece of the pass rush solution this upcoming season.

Chaisson becomes the second free agent edge rusher signed, joining for Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Odafe Oweh, who drew a $100 million contract on day one of free agency.

After beginning his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a former first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Chaisson had a slow start to his career where he posted just five sacks through his first four seasons in the NFL, ultimately finding a fresh start with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he enjoyed a slight uptick in production. In fact, Chaisson posted five sacks in his lone season with the franchise while also recording his first and only NFL interception.

Chaisson then followed it up with a career-best 7.5 sack season in 2025 with the Patriots, adding a pair of forced fumbles with one recovery in addition to 31 overall tackles. He admitted a return to the Patriots for a second season would be of interest to him.

“Call the guys and tell them I’m trying to come back. Don’t play. Tell them I’m trying to be here,” Chaisson told Kay Adams ahead of the Super Bowl.

Chaisson now heads to Washington looking to maintain his momentum over his last two seasons, finding ways to create pressure as a versatile outside linebacker under new defensive coordinator Daronte Jones, making him a clear fit as an impact free agent signing.

He also earned AFC Player of the Week during week 7 of the 2025 season after recording two sacks, three tackles, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown, the first defensive score of his NFL career. Chaisson then secured the game-sealing fumble against Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers in the week 16 win over Baltimore, now looking to carry over that success to the Commanders.

Chaisson cemented his draft stock as an intriguing pass rusher after starring on the LSU Tigers team that dominated the college football season en route to a national championship in 2019, leading the 6-foot-3 edge rusher to also be named a First Team All-SEC selection before blossoming into a first round pick.
