Quarterback Jayden Daniels proved to be one of several injuries the Washington Commanders suffered in the week two loss against the Dallas Cowboys

The Washington Commanders fell behind early against the Dallas Cowboys and were never able to climb out of the hole, instead falling, 37-20, on the road to open winless through the first two weeks of the 2026 regular season.

Yet the questions surrounding the Commanders coming out of the loss are centered around availability with quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocating his left elbow, an injury that sidelined him for the second half of the loss. Yet Daniels proved to be the first of several key injuries for a Commanders team already battling multiple key absences.

Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw battled injuries during the week after being limited in practice, but was available to play on Sunday and was ruled active ahead of kickoff. Kinlaw registered his first sack as a Commander midway through the second quarter after taking down Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott on first and ten, ending his day with a pair of tackles. The team did not rule him out with an injury as Quinn noted postgame he suffered a shoulder injury, while the veteran did not return in a blow to the defensive line's depth.

Washington also saw a pair of offensive linemen go down in the loss, the first being starting left tackle Brandon Coleman after going into the medical tent then back into the tunnel. Starting right guard Sam Cosmi was also dealt a blow after going down in the closing minutes of the game. Rookie running back Kaytron Allen ran into Cosmi's face at the end of the run, leading Cosmi to fall to the turf before drawing attention from the medical staff.

While Cosmi is now in concussion protocol, Coleman was ruled questionable to return with Andrew Wylie stepping in as his replacement the rest of the way with uncertainty heading into week three surrounding Cosmi's status, adding another layer of questions for Washington's offensive line.

The unit already entered the regular season battling its biggest injury after star left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn tricep that required surgery and leaves him set to miss a "significant portion" in 2026.

The Commanders already entered Sunday without two key starters as linebacker Frankie Luvu suffered a groin injury and tight end Chig Okonkwo a hamstring injury in the week one loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Washington will now shift its attention toward picking up the first win of the regular season when they face the Seattle Seahawks for the home opener next Sunday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is set for 1 PM ET.
