After the overtime miscue against the New York Giants, the Washington Commanders are not expected to make a move on head coach Dan Quinn

Coming out of a humbling two game stretch highlighted by an overtime blunder that had nearly the entire league discussing the Washington Commanders after week five, head coach Dan Quinn finds himself under pressure for maybe the first time during his tenure with the organization. For now, all signs point to no changes being made.

News surfaced on Monday that the Commanders were unlikely to make a move on Quinn's future in the immediate aftermath of the tie against the New York Giants with news trickling into Tuesday that it remains status quo. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Tuesday that the expectation he is unlikely to be let go soon, but the tie also heightened the pressure on Quinn in a pivotal year three with all eyes on how the rest of the season unfolds.

Veteran NFL writer Eric Edholm tabbed Quinn as the hot seat coach of the week, marking another notable finish for Quinn roughly nine years after the Atlanta Falcons' iconic Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots. Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Micah Parsons, who spent three seasons under Quinn with the Dallas Cowboys, pointed to quarterback Jayden Daniels' last second mistake as potentially costly for Quinn's future.

Head coach Dan Quinn acknowledged the pressure that now looms over his job security coming out of the division tie while reiterating that he and managing director Josh Harris speak "regularly" -- through both the good and the bad.

Quinn emphasized that the late game clock management issues "can't happen" when reflecting on the missed opportunity on Monday with all eyes on how the team moves forward.

The road ahead doesn't get any easier for Quinn and the Commanders, either. Washington has one last game before the bye week as they look to spoil the perfect start to the San Francisco 49ers' season in the first meeting between the two teams since 2023. Following the looming bye week, the Commanders will then host the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams to wrap up a grueling first half of the season.

Quinn is 18-20-1 through his three season as head coach of the Commanders with the franchise looking to make the postseason for the second time during his tenure, but also just the second time since 2020. Whether a turnaround can come to fruition currently faces a daunting outlook, starting when Quinn and the Commanders take the current 1-3-1 record across the country for the first of two games on Monday Night Football in 2026 set for this upcoming weekend in San Francisco.
