On the latest episode of the DC Roundtable Podcast diving into the Washington Commanders, we discuss the week four loss, Marcus Mariota's injury, whether there's concern -- again
On the next episode of the DC Roundtable Podcast hosted by Tyler Lochte and Ahmed Ghafir diving into the Washington Commanders, we dive into everything you need to know after the Commanders fell to 1-3 for the first time since the 2022 season.
It started well for the Commanders after amassing an early turnover while veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota was able to find rhythm, but that would be short-lived. Mariota exited the game at the end of the team's second offensive series, leading Athan Kaliakmanis to make his NFL debut en route to the 30-13 loss against the Indianapolis Colts in London. That marked one of several injuries, including what proved to be a season-ending injury for wide receiver Jaylin Lane. We discuss the Mariota injury, what it means, whether the growing list of injuries is deserving of concern and what is next for Washington.
Plus, we dive into the penalty discrepancy coming out of the week four meeting after the Commanders were called for ten penalties resulting in 84 yards, including several calls that proved to loom large. Indianapolis, meanwhile, was called for just one penalty, including a defensive pass interference that could have set the Commanders up with a late score even with the game out of reach. Was there reason to be critical of the officiating in London? Were there too many swing plays that proved to be too much? Were some calls not justified? We discuss the glaring difference between the two teams.
Still, the Commanders enter the week with an opportunity to secure their second straight win at Northwest Stadium when first year head coach John Harbaugh and the New York Giants head to Northwest Stadium in week five. Despite the Giants entering the matchup leading the NFC East, can Washington right the ship? Does Washington have the pieces on defense to disrupt quarterback Jameis Winston and the Giants' offense? We give our takes and score predictions for Sunday before the Commanders shift attention toward the primetime matchup against the San Francisco 49ers next weekend prior to the bye week.
With the regular season in full swing and constant news surrounding all the latest injuries through the opening stretch of the regular season, make sure to like and subscribe to the show as we dive into everything that you need to know surrounding the Washington Commanders through 2026 in year three for head coach Dan Quinn.
