Studs and duds from the Washington Commanders' SNF win over the Philadelphia Eagles, including coordinator Daronte Jones

The Commanders ended their three-game home winless streak Sunday night with a 27-10 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. After trailing 10-0, Washington controlled the final three quarters. This win, highlighted by strong and not-so-strong performances, keeps them competitive in a very winnable NFC East.

Stud

Daronte Jones, defensive coordinator

Jones called an excellent game Sunday night, applying consistent pressure on Tanner McKee and generating five sacks and eight quarterback hits while blitzing 35 percent of the time. Washington limited the Eagles' rushing attack to 3.1 yards per carry, with contributions from the entire defensive rotation, which is crucial without a single dominant defender.

Dud

K’Lavon Chaisson committed two roughing-the-passer penalties

Chaisson appears on this list due to penalties, though he performed well with four tackles, a sack, and a tackle for loss. Both penalties were borderline, particularly the first. However, the NFL and its officials prioritize quarterback safety and tend to rule cautiously in these situations.

Stud

Quarterback Jayden Daniels

Daniels completed 16 of 29 passes for 217 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. While not required to do much, he made key plays to improve field position and support the defense, contributing to the team's most balanced performance of the season.

Dud

Procedural Penalties

On their opening possession at the Eagles' 27, the Commanders committed consecutive false starts, resulting in 3rd and 11. After an incomplete pass, Drew Stevens missed a 55-yard field goal. Additional penalties, including an ineligible man downfield and two more false starts — one by Daniels — cost valuable yards and contributed to the early 10-point deficit.

Studs

Treylon Burks and Antonio Williams

With All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin unavailable, Burks and Williams both made significant contributions. Burks had a 53-yard reception in the third quarter that led to a Stevens field goal and a 21-yard catch on the second-quarter touchdown drive. On that same drive, Williams added a 10-yard reception on 3rd and 4 and a five-yard catch on third down to extend the drive. His 30-yard reception also set up a 42-yard Stevens field goal.

Other Studs

Offensive Line: Aside from procedural penalties, the line delivered its best performance of the year. Washington averaged 5.2 yards per carry and allowed only two sacks.

Nick Cross: Recorded nine tackles and a key tackle for loss against Elijah Mitchell on third down, forcing a punt.

Sonny Styles: While he recorded eight tackles, the Eagles consistently neutralized his impact throughout the game, especially with his chase-down stop on Mitchell  on 3rd and 4 for no gain that ultimately led to a missed field goal for Philadelphia.

Charles Omenihu: Tallied one sack, three quarterback hits, and a fumble recovery.

Shy Tuttle: Registered one sack and two tackles for loss.

Other Dud:

Chig Okonkwo: Made a notable 26-yard catch, but his first-quarter fumble led to an easy field goal for the Eagles.
