Several young and fringe roster players will look to capitalize on one final chance to impress for the Washington Commanders in the regular season finale today against the Philadelphia Eagles, including running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt and linebacker Jordan Magee. But two more veterans also have added incentive for Sunday's final divisional game with money on the line.
In what could be his final game as a Commander, wide receiver Deebo Samuel has a chance to cash in a game. Heading into the regular season finale, Samuel needs 93 receiving yards to reach 800 receiving yards in 2025 to secure a $200,000 bonus.
Samuel is also ten receptions away from hitting a $200,000 bonus while two touchdowns will earn him an additional $250,000.
Since 2021, Samuel has proven to be one of the league's most dominant wide receivers, ranking top five in scrimmage touchdowns (41), touches (509) and yards after catch (2,679) while also sneaking into the top ten in scrimmage yards per game (72.1), scrimmage yards (5,338) and 25-plus yard receptions (43).
Heading into the regular season finale, Samuel leads the team in catches (70), targets (94), receiving yards (707) and receiving touchdowns (5) including 438 yards after catch after playing in all but one game in 2025.
Samuel, who has played at least 15 games in all but two seasons since joining the league in 2019, may be the most debated of all the pending free agents for the Commanders with a reunion on the table - depending on the money - with a chance to reunite with Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels.
Meanwhile, Commanders linebacker and future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller needs just one sack to record his ninth of the 2025 season, hitting a $500,000 incentive in the process, while three sacks will earn an additional one million dollars in incentives.
Miller leads all active players with 137.5 career sacks while ranking among the best in the NFL since 2011 in tackles for loss (176), forced fumbled (27), postseason sacks (10.5), postseason tackles for loss (12) and postseason forced fumbles (3).
Heading into the regular season finale, Miller leads the team with eight sacks and fourth with five tackles for loss in 2025 while adding 24 tackles in 2025.
Whether Miller returns in 2026 is also worth tracking after signing a one year, $6.1 million contract last offseason, but he made clear during the losing streak that a year two with the Commanders is something he's interested in.
“I got to get one more year with the Commanders, bro,” he said on his podcast. “Like, I know we talked about in this show, we talked about having a chance to go to the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos. Like, I’m just going to tell you the truth. F*** all that. Excuse my language. First year, they go to the NFC Championship. Next year we get injured a lot. That third year is where you like boom, go to Super Bowl and do some crazy stuff.”
Meanwhile, future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner enters the season finale five tackles shy of his 2,000 career tackle.
