One day after shutting down quarterback Jayden Daniels for the final three games of the 2025 season, the Washington Commanders shut down another piece on offense with the team officially designating wide receiver Noah Brown on the reserve/injured list on Tuesday morning.
Brown ends his season with just five catches for 83 yards on ten targets, marking both his fewest receptions and receiving yards since his second season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018.
But it also came after Brown played in just four games in 2025 after battling injuries throughout virtually the entire season. Brown first suffered a groin/knee injury in the week two loss at Green Bay before missing ten consecutive games. Brown then returned for the week 14 road loss vs. Minnesota, roughly two months after nearing a return before suffering a setback in practice. The news also comes days removed from Brown leaving Sunday's win against the New York Giants with a rib injury, becoming the latest piece working toward full strength in a wide receiver room that has been hit with the injury bug all season.
"It would be great for the whole band to be back together," head coach Dan Quinn said of the possibility of the offense finally being all healthy again ahead of the Minnesota game. "So it'll be fun don't think we have any expectations. I just want to go out there and execute at a high level with the guys and see what we could do.”
While Brown's absence gives a guy like rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane, who has carved out his niche on special teams with a pair of punt returns for touchdowns in 2025, the question now shifts to whether the veteran receiver has played his last down with the franchise. With Terry McLaurin preparing for year two of his three-year extension and Deebo Samuel a potential re-sign candidate depending on numbers, Brown could be on the outside looking in as Washington weighs its possibilities to upgrade the unit. Brown signed to a one-year, $3.25 million deal ahead of the 2025 season.
Washington also announced on Tuesday that the team elevated Chris Moore from the practice squad with the ninth-year wide receiver heading into week 16 with ten catches for 192 yards and one touchdown on 22 targets in 2025. The bulk of his production came in the losses against Chicago and Dallas when Moore combined for 105 yards and five catches on ten targets. Washington also signed wide receiver River Cracraft and tight end Gee Scott Jr. to the practice squad.
Meanwhile, cornerback Darius Rush has been designated back to the practice squad after being elevated to the 53-man roster on Saturday, a sign that cornerback Jonathan Jones could be available to return against Philadelphia on Sunday after missing the Giants win.
