Bijan Robinson & Cowboys: No Meeting, But New Info from NFL Scouting Combine cover image

“I think certainly if the right guy were there and you loved him and you needed him, then you’d take him,” Stephen Jones says as the Cowboys do their Bijan Robinson research.

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys do not have a formal NFL Scouting Combine meeting planned with Texas star Bijan Robinson, a piece of information that we will deem reliable ...

Because it comes from Bijan himself.

But there is a deeper wrinkle here.

And while team owner Jerry Jones also continues to express a desire to retain Ezekiel Elliott, albeit at a reduced rate ...

With the agent for the Texas star.

Robinson is the top-rated running back in the 2023 NFL Draft and he may very well be a top-five talent, all of which means he could be off the board when the Cowboys pick at No. 26 in the first round.

But the homework on the 2022 Doak Walker Award winner is being done nevertheless.

The Cowboys have made noise about shying away from committing a high-first-rounder to a running back because of the relatively short shelf life at the position - a less learned in part by the Elliott experience. And yet COO Stephen Jones certainly seems open to the concept if the team is picking late in the first round.

“I think certainly if the right guy were there and you loved him and you needed him, then you’d take him,” Jones said.

Pollard at the franchise tag for $10.1 million, plus Elliott, plus Robinson?

That seems excessive.

But a Cowboys meeting with Bijan Robinson's agent?

That seems notable.
