"I've got all the faith in the world we can win this thing with Dak Prescott,'' Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says. And so, a contract extension is coming. But ...

PHOENIX - How comfortable are the Dallas Cowboys about where they will eventually (and soon?) go with Dak Prescott and a contract extension that might make him the "America's Team'' quarterback for the next decade or so?

While COO Stephen Jones recently assured that Dallas is locked into a long-term future with Prescott - "We've got to have a plan to ultimately extend Dak," Stephen said - Jerry Jones told us on Monday here at the NFL owners meeting that that plan has not yet included a visit with Prescott's representatives.

Dallas has already done a restructure on Prescott's deal (a "flip of the switch'') that required no negotiation.

We asked Jerry about whether the motivation for a big-money and long-term extension with Prescott is more about the Cowboys' faith in him to lead the team to Super Bowl contention (Jones has said before, "I've got all the faith in the world we can win this thing with Dak'') or about the salary cap bed that Dallas has made with Prescott ... that now must be slept in.

Jerry's replay to CowboysSI.com: "Both,'' he said. "Of equal importance. Both.''
