The Dallas Cowboys' 2025 season is officially over after a 34-17 loss to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
Brian Schottenheimer's first year as head coach ends with Dallas at 7-9-1, and it's also Dak Prescott's first-ever losing season in which he's played all games.
So yeah, 2025 can get in the bin.
With Prescott playing the first half at MetLife, going 7-of-11 for 70 yards, he escaped without injury and sat on the bench for the second half as Joe Milton got his chance.
Afterward, when asked what he sees for himself for Year 11 in 2036 and for the rest of his career, he offered up a bold announcement.
“Greatness," Dak said.
See? Bold.
He continued: "I’m gonna work every day and bust my a** in the gym and the way that I take care of my body, throwing on the field. Doing everything I can. I don’t expect anything different than in years past to be better next year than I was this year.
"And I think just over my career, the track record somewhat proves that.''
Indeed, as Prescott is slated to turn 33 this summer, his work ethic has never been the issue.
But then came another "humblebrag'' of sorts.
“So for me, it’s just about continuing to work,'' he said. "I don’t know if there are many that work as hard as me, or as intentional as me. I pride myself in that, and I look forward to getting back to that here in about a week. I control what I can control, and I worry about the present.
"The future will take care of itself.”
Prescott this year was injury-free and posted a stat line of 4,552 passing yards, 30 TDs and 10 interceptions. But he experienced the first losing season of his career in which he played every game.
Attention now turns to the offseason, and there's a lot of work to do - and not just for the $60 million QB.
Offensively, the contractual futures of George Pickens and Javonte Williams are the headliners. And defensively, who stays and who goes will be a fascinating watch. ... Not to mention who the 2026 defensive coordinator might be.
But for Prescott, nothing changes ahead of his 11th year; it is all gas, no brakes, as he looks to continue his Pro Bowl form under coach Brian Schottenheimer.
As far as the "greatness" quote? We admire Dak's desire level and confidence level.
But it's been 30 since true greatness graced this franchise, so with all due respect to Dak Prescott ... color us skeptical on that.
