The Cowboys' defense has been overhauled this offseason, leading some to think it could be the driving force behind a Super Bowl push.
The Dallas Cowboys, you could argue, have ticked most of the offseason boxes that they set out to do this offseason on the defensive side of the ball.
They added several players at key positions, not to mention the draft class as Caleb Downs, the centerpiece to it all, was taken to lead Parker's defense.
But with all the pieces now on the roster, all eyes are on Parker to see how his vision can come to life at The Star.
With rookie minicamp now concluded, we have gotten to see Parker work with his team to an extent as he looks to begin building the foundation of his defense.
Given how potent the offense is, if the defense under Parker can get to be just league average, then the Cowboys might have something positive brewing in 2026.
And for NFL analyst Peter Schrager, he had some glowing words for Parker, along with a rather debatable prediction.
"Christian Parker, the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys might be the most fascinating person in the NFL this season," Schrager said on The Schrager Hour. "34 years old, an absolute firebrand, like out of bed, like energy, energy, energy, beloved by players. And he comes from the rival Eagles where he was a defensive back coach.
"And if the defense is somewhat, somewhat serviceable, I'm talking top half of the league, you better believe the Cowboys are a playoff team and you better believe the Cowboys are a Super Bowl contender."
We have spoken at length about how the Cowboys' last season just needed a defense that was league average, and they would have been playoff-bound.
The thought now is that with Parker, his coaching staff, and the moves made this offseason, on paper, Dallas, in theory, should have a vastly improved defense in 2026.
Now, how far that improved defense can take Dallas is unknown, because remember that it is predicated on the Cowboys' offense still being elite.
If it is, and Parker can get the Cowboys' defense to go from 32nd in the league to 15th, then who knows what the 2026 season could bring.
As far as a Super Bowl contender, I think that's a little too far, especially at this time of year, but there's no denying there's buzz around the Cowboys, thanks largely to Parker.
