At his Dallas Cowboys introductory press conference, new defensive coordinator Christian Parker impressed the media similarly to how he impressed Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, Will McClay and, most of all, Brian Schottenheimer during his hiring process.
He brought a fiery, youthful perspective - with some ancient philosophy mixed in as well - that brought some enthusiasm back into the minds of fans who likely still painstakingly remember what the 2025 Cowboys defense was like.
Jerry Jones was not present at the presser, but that doesn't mean he wasn't brought up.
A questioned probed by Dallas Morning News columnist Kevin Sherrington was noteworthy: Will Parker campaign Jones for the Cowboys to use their two first-round picks on defense?
"Absolutely," the 34-year-old first-time DC responded without hesitation.
That'd be nice, indeed, but he may soon be clamoring Jones to make good on his word to "break the bank" in free agency first. Especially on his defense.
One name Dallas could get an eye on is Miami Dolphins veteran Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was in the news recently regarding his new team likely rebuilding in another direction after acquiring the safety last season via a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cowboys are named as an early landing spot for the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro to remodel the safety position.
"Dallas is an obvious possible landing spot for Fitzpatrick, given how bad the Cowboys were on defense last year and Jerry Jones' compulsive behavior when it comes to making headlines," CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo said.
The Cowboys' pass defense was the worst in football last season, equally due to injury inavailability and poor schematic communication under one-and-done DC Matt Eberflus.
Acquiring Fitzpatrick, DeArdo says, does more than just enhance the coverage team.
"If they were to acquire Fitzpatrick, the Cowboys would simultaneously improve their run and pass defenses. It may also benefit George Pickens, who had several notable practice battles with Fitzpatrick during their time together in Pittsburgh."
That's a fun wrinkle with the Cowboys' new All-Pro receiver, but Pickens - a free agent in his own right - deserves his own attention this offseason to confirm he plays in Dallas next season.
Fitzpatrick, 29, is among the most experienced options Dallas could have in replacing either Malik Hooker and/or Donovan Wilson, who will each be north of 30 years old and coming off of injury issues from this past year.
"The Cowboys make even more sense [to land Fitzpatrick] given new defensive coordinator Christian Parker's implementation of the 3-4, an alignment in which Fitzpatrick flourished during his time with the Steelers," DeArdo adds.
It will all come down to the Dolphins' decision to seek a trade or flat out release him at some point this offseason.
The do-it-all defensive back is reportedly on the trade block in Miami during their "roster purge", which included trading Jalen Ramsey to Pittsburgh (for Fitzpatrick) and now releasing Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb, and potentially ditching Tua Tagovailoa.
Will Jerry want to make another "splash" like he's done in the past? This isn't a position group the Cowboys have made a big move in before ...
But maybe the bigger question is whether Parker finds Fitzpatrick as a player worthy it.
And if Jones will listen to his new DC to make it happen.
