Lunda Well's tight end room was a mixed bag for the Cowboys in 2025.

The Dallas Cowboys' offense was one of the better units in football throughout the 2025 season, with Dak Prescott getting the most out of his weapons.

The receiver and running backs were the best of the bunch, but Lunda Wells' tight end unit still has just as many questions hanging over it entering the offseason.

Still, there were some good moments.

Let's take a look at the tight end position as we review the room.

The Good:

In terms of scoring? Jake Ferguson bounced back with authority after his touchdown-less 2024 season, racking up eight in 2025 to be just one behind team-leader George Pickens, who had nine.

Getting production from the tight end position is crucial in how the Cowboys' offense rolls, and perhaps the good thing was, it wasn't just all "Big Biscuit" either.

Brevyn Spann-Ford also showed glimpse of his pass-catching talents.

At 6-7, he moves like a receiver, and while his 90 yards and a touchdown don't scream talent, the fact that he's already overtaken Luke Schoonmaker (privately, anyway) tells you what Dallas thinks of him moving forward.

The Bad:

For all of Ferguson's 82 receptions, he wasn't the field-stretcher we have seen him be. Ferguson averaged just 7.3 yards per reception, ranking him 25th in the league among tight ends.

Schoonmaker averaged 9.4 yards and Spann-Ford 10.0 yards per reception, but Ferguson, given his standing in the offense, wasn't a downfield threat Dallas needed him to be.

That has to change.

The Ugly:

It has to be Schoonmaker's production.

Granted, he was drafted more for his blocking ability than receiving chops, but Schoon has to develop more as a passing option for Dak.

Just 132 yards from 14 receptions, Schoonmaker, in Year 3, didn't have the season, at least statistically, the Cowboys wanted.

In the same number of games, Schoon had 13 fewer receptions and 109 fewer yards as he did in 2024.

For a second-round pick, who will be entering Year 4 in 2026, we aren't confident about what the future holds for Schoonmaker in Dallas.

Overall Grade: C

Ferguson finished with 600 yards and eight touchdowns, while Spann-Ford (90 yards), and Schoonmaker (132 yards) round out the room.

The only big plus was Ferguson's ability to get open in the red zone, with his eight touchdowns ranking third among all tight ends.

Heading into 2026, coach Brian Schottenheimer has to figure out how to get Spann-Ford and Schoonmaker more involved in the offseason.

And find out if Ferguson still has the wheels to get downfield.
