Police reportedly found former Pro Bowler Miles Sanders, who last played for Dallas, slumped over his steering wheel in Pennsylvania.
FRISCO - One summer ago, the Dallas Cowboys employed on their roster a pair of new veteran running backs, Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders.
Both had credentials, and the idea was that they might battle for the starting job for "America's Team.''
Since that time, their arrows have pointed in opposite directions.
Williams, the former Broncos back, won the job, never let it go, and this offseason signed a new contract to remain Dallas' bell-cow back.
Sanders, who once electrified as an Eagles star, got banged up and never made his mark here.
And now he's in trouble with the law.
Sanders was arrested on DUI charges in June in the Pittsburgh area, CBS Pittsburgh is reporting.Sanders, a free agent, reportedlyhas been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and careless driving on June 8.
Police also discovered marijuana in his car, per the report.“
This is a private matter that has not even reached the preliminary hearing stage and there will be no further comment,” Sanders’ agent, Phil DiLucente, told KDKA-TV.

The police report apparently states that an officer found Sanders “slumped over” while in the driver’s seat of a Lexus found in the middle of William Penn Highway.
The report states that the officer attempted to wake Sanders, but he was “in and out consciousness and “extremely lethargic,” according to CBS Pittsburgh.
Sanders, 29, reportedly could not answer the questions posed by the officer and it is alleged by police that Sanders “performed poorly” on field sobriety tests and tested positive for alcohol.
Sanders now has a September court date, per the report.
Sanders is a Pittsburgh native who starred for Penn State from 2016-18 before being selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Sanders rushed for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns on the way to earning his lone Pro Bowl selection in 2022 as the Eagles won the NFC Championship and played in the Super Bowl.
Sanders spent four productive years with the Eagles before signing a four-year, $25 million deal with the Panthers ahead of the 2023 season.
He played for Carolina for two years before spending time with the Cowboys, who have turned the page to Javonte, with Malik Davis and Jaydon Blue now contesting for the No. 2 job that Sanders could never quite grab here.
