The Cowboys have been rebuffed three times in trying to acquire Crosby, but as the trade deadline looms, will it be fourth time lucky?

Stop me if you have heard this before: the Dallas Cowboys should go after Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

The Cowboys tried last offseason, knocking three times, to lure Maxx to The Star.

But three times they were knocked back.

As the season has rolled on, the Cowboys' lack of pass rush has been glaringly evident, as no one has been a consistent threat hunting the quarterback.

But with Dallas and the Raiders both at 3-4, the trade deadline is looming, and once again tongues are wagging about Jerry Jones pulling off a blockbuster move.

Jerry himself - on the eve of Sunday's visit from 2-5 Arizona - has used the word "unlikely'' regarding another big deal.

Then we have Cowboys legend Darren Woodson stating, "One player won't make the difference, sorry," in an exclusive chat with our own Mike Fisher on trading major draft capital for a player.

Again, the rumors just won't go away.

Now we have 105.3 The Fan's Bryan Broaddus, who is a former Cowboys scout and isn't one for saying things just for the sake of it. When he talks, it's because he has genuine information.

And he thinks that the Cowboys will in fact land Maxx.

"Sometimes you have to think about, you have no pass rush," Broaddus said. "It's a shame it hasn't materialized like we all thought it might. I'm going to make a bold prediction, I think they're going to get Maxx Crosby."

This seems like somewhere berween a prediction and an expectation from Broaddus. And again, he is about as well-connected as anyone in the media regarding Cowboys' dealings.

Our plugged-in guy Mike Fisher has chimed in on this as well, predicting that the Cowboys will likely "circle back'' and make offers on Maxx as they did last spring.

(For what it's worth, ESPN's Adam Schefter is saying on Sunday morning that "the Raiders currently have no plans of trading him. See Fish's note below.)

The big question fans have is whether Dallas can do it, from a draft pick standpoint, because right now, the Cowboys have just four picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Whether a move for Maxx would mean some 2028 selections or even a player isn't known, but as far as salary cap-wise, we know Dallas can do this deal. It is a matter of whether it wants to.

Having already swung on in-season move for Joey Porter Jr., who has been a success this season, could Jerry take one more big swing before the trade deadline passes?

Fisher is predicting Dallas will at least try. Broaddus is predicting Dallas will succeed.

We'll have our answer between now and the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.
