The All-Pro kicker has an idea of what the ground will look like, but is focusing on what he can control.
The Dallas Cowboys are on their way to Brazil, where they will face the Baltimore Ravens in Rio at Maracanã Stadium.
Given all of the noise surrounding the reportedly "terrible'' field conditions this week, there are a lot of people who aren't sure exactly how safe it will be for players, but the NFL has ticked it off (of course, right?).
With several Cowboys players stating they are taking a handful of different cleats, we have heard how the run game will be impacted by the field, receivers, and how they run their routes, and even the quarterbacks with their footing.
But one position we haven't heard much about is the kicker.
And in Dallas' case, All-Pro Brandon Aubrey.
When he lands in Brazil and Dallas heads to the stadium to get a feel for it before gameday, Aubrey reveals where he's heading first.
"First and foremost, I'm looking at the extra-point spot," Aubrey said. "If it's in good shape, OK, but if it's not, we'll talk to Bryan [Anger] and Trent [Sieg] and maybe move it over to the left or right a little bit, or if the hash looks studded.
"Other than that, I can't really control where I'm at on the field or where I kick, so I'll just deal with it. I'm not too concerned with it yet. I'm focused on getting some good sleep on the flight, so that's my focus right now."
And Aubrey is right, the Cowboys can't control what the field looks like, so focusing on their preparation is going to be key.
Given that Dallas is going up against a tough Jesse Minter defense, Aubrey might be called into action often in Week 3.
After going 3/3 on field goals and 6/7 on extra points in two games, Aubrey is in decent enough form, and the last thing Dallas wants against a team like Baltimore is for the field to play a role in the outcome.
Many think it will, but time will tell.
Either way, Aubrey doesn't seem too bothered by it.
