There are rumors floating around that CeeDee Lamb was out until the early hours of Monday morning.

We are very careful here to run with "rumors" that we see on social media, in the case of Dallas Cowboys All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb and his stellar teammate George Pickens, we have chosen to tread lightly and "let the cake bake,'' as our boss Mike Fisher likes to say.

And now the truth is coming out.

Lamb and George Pickens were sensationally benched for the Cowboys' opening series of the game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night, an eventual 33-16 win.

The pair saw Dallas go three-and-out, but when they did get ni to the game, they had their way with the Raiders defense. Pickens posted 144 yards and a touchdown while Lamb managed 66 yards and a touchdown.

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer didn't go into too much detail on the "why" of benching his two stars, but stated the pair "missed some things" which led to the discipline we saw.

That has been all we have heard about it.

Until now, that is.

“I was out a little late, after curfew,” Lamb said following Thursday’s practice, via the Dallas News, which writes:

"Lamb said the pair had dinner and a few drinks at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa Las Vegas before heading back to the team hotel, nearly 20 minutes away at the Durango Resort.''=

And again, we are careful when rumors start circulating, and in this case, there are rumors that Lamb was seen outside of the popular Vegas Red Rock Casino at 7:30 am throwing up, and that this is what might have led to his benching.

“That’s a disrespect to even suggest that,” Lamb said. “I know how to hold my liquor.”

Pickens has said only that the punishment issue is "between'' him and Schottenheimer.

Either way, this rumor can likely now go away.

Lamb and Pickens did stay out too late.

They did miss curfew.

They were punished.

And now Lamb, being the team leader he is, showed up, faced the music, played the way he knows how and tormented Las Vegas. ... and on Thursday discussed the issue with his audience (you) via the media.

The end result? No damage done, and maybe a positive, as Schottenheimer's goal of building a tremendous team culture might benefit from evidence that he'll punish even his best guys. ...

Regardless of whether they can "hold their liquor.''
