After 11 seasons, Dak finally passed Tony Romo for the most passing touchdowns in franchise history.
The Dallas Cowboys have a new franchise leader in passing touchdowns as Dak Prescott surpassed former leader Tony Romo in Sunday's 37-20 win over Washington in Week 2.
With Romo throwing 248 touchdowns across his career, Prescott has been inching closer to that title.
Prescott already leads the franchise in passing yards (36,164) and completions (3,206), and now he can add another to the list—passing touchdowns.
After throwing two touchdowns in the first half against the Washington Commanders, Dak came right back in the third quarter with a touchdown pass to Jake Ferguson, his second of the day.
And with that, Prescott tied Romo for the all-time lead at 248.
Then came the record-breaker.
In the fourth quarter, and late in the game, Dak hit CeeDee Lamb for a touchdown to break the all-time record. Now at 249.
While Dak is still more than a handful of wins away from becoming the all-time leader in that category, it is now the only one left for him to claim, as he owns all the others.
Of course, Dak has repeatedly stated that he doesn't care about stats; the only thing that matters to him is winning a Super Bowl.
But becoming the Cowboys' all-time passing-touchdown leader is still a nice feather in the cap for the 11-year veteran.
In two of his last three seasons, Dak has thrown for 30+ touchdowns, and has done that four times in his career, as he has been playing at a near MVP level, despite the defensive woes.
Dak has slowly ticked off all of the big-ticket items along his career, and now the only thing left for him to do is perhaps the hardest...and that's to win a Super Bowl.
He does that, he'll etch his name into Cowboys folklore.
A heavily criticized player since entering the league in 2016, Prescott has slowly won people over, and yes, he hasn't got it done in the big moments, but there's no doubting his quality at the quarterback position, especially over the past couple of seasons.
And now he etches his name in the history books as the Cowboys' all-time passing touchdowns leader after a 4-TD effort against the Commanders, as Dallas bounced back from that woeful Week 1 loss to the New York Giants.
