Schottenheimer was visibly annoyed at some things that cost his team in the loss to New York.

The Dallas Cowboys were humbled at MetLife Stadium as the New York Giants easily dealt with coach Brian Schottenheimer's team to the tune of a 28-20 loss.

And it has "Schotty'' in a cussin' mood.

With the Cowboys unveiling new coordinator Christian Parker's defense ... Well, it was not a good debut for the first-time play-caller.

Costly penalties, miscommunication, and an inability to stop the run at all, as the Giants rushed for 165 yards, which included Jaxson Dart routinely escaping and using his legs to pick up valuable yards.

It was a game that, if we are being truthful, the Cowboys were never really in it, as Dallas got pushed around all game, as New York, after the fumble in the second quarter, went touchdown, touchdown, and touchdown on their next three possessions.

Oh, and on their fourth straight, they milked the last five minutes off the clock to kneel out the game, as they managed to go 9/11 on third down.

And for Schottenheimer - who really doesn't much use profanity in his media meeting? He was visibly annoyed speaking post-game about some of the mistakes that his younger players made.

“Not an excuse, we did not play well,” Schottenheimer said. “But you got young players, and a young player closes, and Jaxson Dart boots and gets outside. We don’t push three different times to the [expletive] flat route.

"Those are going to happen, and we have to coach the young players better, but when you play young players, it's part of the deal, but they need to learn quickly.”

And the emphasis is on quickly.

Why? Because the Washington Commanders are up next, and they pushed the Philadelphia Eagles all the way, and Dallas won't want to be 0-2 with a trip to Brazil to face the Baltimore Ravens coming in Week 3.

There was always going to be growing pains from Parker's defense, but what we saw at MetLife was a serious dent in the hopes and optimism that were everywhere pre-game.

Now the hard part begins, as after an entire offseason to plan for this game, they fell flat on their face, especially on defense.

Many were excited to see what the 2026 version of the Cowboys would look like, and after a quarter, it was evident that this version, after one game, looked as bad as it did last season.
