At Super Bowl Week, George Pickens’ Dallas teammate and BFF CeeDee Lamb is reporting that Micah Parsons is attempting to “recruit’’ Pickens to the Packers.

FRISCO - In a way, how can you blame Micah Parsons for thinking conventional rules don’t apply? After all, in the eyes of Dallas Cowboys management, he reneged on a contract agreement, and then in the eyes of Cowboys Nation, he faked taking a sideline nap during a game as a method of accelerating his exit toward a gigantic pay-day trade to Green Bay.

He did anything he wanted.

He got everything he wanted.

Little wonder, then, that he believes that by simply whispering sweet nothings into the helmet earhole of George Pickens, he can persuade the Pro Bowl receiver to dump Dallas and follow his path to the Packers.

Of course - conventionally - that’s not really how this works.

As Pickens was making Dallas’ spring 2025 trade from Pittsburgh look brilliant as he put up career-highs with 93 catches, 1,429 yards and nine TDs, the Cowboys were making up their minds (way back in late November) that they’d likely use the 2026 franchise tag on him as a method of maintaining contractual control.

Them’s the rules - whether Micah likes ‘em or not.

Nevertheless, at Super Bowl Week, Pickens’ Dallas teammate and BFF CeeDee Lamb is reporting that Parsons is attempting to “recruit’’ Pickens to Wisconsin.

“Everybody ... is trying to recruit him while I am standing right next to him - Micah for one,’’ Lamb told the “Up and Adams Show.” "Green Bay clearly wants him.’’

But, Lamb added, “They’re not getting him.’’

Conventionally speaking, Lamb is correct.

At the same time, it is worth noting that a year ago at this time, it was absurd to think owner Jerry Jones would somehow allow Parsons to slip through his fingers. And so yes, the one-year, $28 million tag looms (with a March 3 deadline to use it at least as a placeholder with contract talks remaining open until July 13). …

But your concern that Jerry - for reasons of stubbornness, cheapness, theater or incompetence - could screw this up?

I understand where you’re coming from.

And maybe Lamb - who experienced much of that himself during a summer 2024 holdout before finalizing his monster $34 million APY deal - privately shares your concerns.

Lamb insists he has something else, too. … a relationship with Pickens that won’t be broken by players from other teams trying to slide into George’s DMs.

Said Lamb: “He’s a phenomenal player, and he is like my brother off the field. He’s like my brother on the field. Those kinds of relationships, they don’t hit off like that a lot of times, especially in the league. A lot of people have families, a lot of people have kids, wives they tend to at home, so they have their own little thing.

“As for us, we’re obviously two young men in the league wanting to thrive.”

Lamb and Pickens, now both Pro Bowlers, have from almost the day the latter arrived here played with nicknames. “Mario Bros.’’ is one. “Goodfellas’’ is another.

But “Brothers’’ might be the one the Dallas front office - should "convention'' be challenged - ends up leaning on just a bit.

“I am going right to the source,” Lamb said of his connection with Pickens. “I don’t need no middle man, I don’t need no help. We don’t have to keep it cute. I am gonna tell you what I want.

“I hope you enjoy it, I hope you like it, I hope you hear what I gotta say. And then we go win.”
