Jerry Jones says the Cowboys are still open for business after adding Von Miller, fueling speculation that another major Dallas move could be coming.
The Dallas Cowboys may not be finished making moves, and Jerry Jones is doing nothing to cool the speculation.
After Dallas added veteran pass rusher Von Miller, Jones made it clear he’d still consider trading future draft capital if the right impact player becomes available.
That’s a significant statement from an owner who entered training camp talking about making a “substantive” addition and now seems even more convinced this roster can contend.
Speaking Monday, Jones said he’d be willing to “take a little of the future” and put it into the current roster if the move could help Dallas win now.
That’s the kind of comment that immediately gets Cowboys fans thinking bigger.
Miller, 37, gives defensive coordinator Christian Parker an experienced edge rusher who can be used selectively in obvious passing situations.
He’s no longer the every-down terror who once dominated the league, but the former All-Pro still brings proven pass-rush instincts and postseason pedigree.
The more intriguing part is that Dallas apparently doesn’t view Miller as the final piece.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer added even more fuel Monday when he said, “We’re not done,” while discussing the Cowboys’ ongoing roster construction.
That opens the door to continued speculation around potential trade targets, including names such as Maxx Crosby and Jordyn Brooks, though there’s no guarantee either becomes available or that Dallas ultimately makes another blockbuster deal.
Still, the Cowboys’ approach feels different.
For years, fans have criticized the front office for being too conservative, too attached to draft capital and too willing to wait for internal development. This offseason, Dallas has shown more urgency.
Now Jones is publicly saying future picks could be part of the equation.
If the Cowboys truly believe they’re one impact player away from raising their ceiling, this is exactly when aggressive teams strike.
Draft picks are valuable, but championship windows don’t stay open forever.
The Von Miller signing already gave Parker another weapon. One more defensive difference-maker could change how this Dallas roster is viewed heading into the regular season.
Jones’ old “all-in” promise never landed the way Cowboys fans hoped.
But “we’re not done” has a different feel to it.
