FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys don’t need a real trade offer to dominate the NFL news cycle. Sometimes all it takes is one juicy quarterback rumor, one famous name, and one franchise that turns offseason whispers into national theater.
That’s exactly why the Shedeur Sanders to Dallas chatter has grabbed attention.
No, there’s no confirmed Cowboys pursuit. No, Jerry Jones hasn’t publicly declared interest. And no, this doesn’t mean Dak Prescott has a quarterback controversy on his hands.

But sources tell CowboysRoundtable.com that the Browns are not shopping Sanders, in part because he's in competition with Deshaun Watson for their starting job.
And at the same time, we believe any Dallas talk about this inside The Star is about Jerry selling T-shirts with Deion Sanders' son's face on them, not about making the football team better.
For DFW product Shedeur? Maybe sitting behind Prescott could make football sense. Dak knows better than almost anyone what it’s like to live inside the Dallas pressure cooker, where every throw gets picked apart and every loss becomes a referendum.
Still, this is where the fun rumor runs into a hard football reality.
The Cowboys don’t need more noise. They need stability. They need Prescott healthy. They need CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens to become a dangerous wide receiver duo.
They need Brian Schottenheimer’s offense to be efficient, explosive, and balanced. They need the run game and offensive line to hold up.
Adding Sanders would create a daily training camp circus.
Every Dak incompletion would get compared to every Shedeur highlight. Every seven-on-seven clip would turn into a debate.
That’s great for talk shows. It might not be great for a team trying to finally turn regular-season expectations into postseason results.
The smarter move? Let Milton and Howell fight it out unless the price for Sanders is almost nothing - and why would the Browns give away a possible starting QB for "almost nothing''?
Could Jerry Jones be tempted? Absolutely, in the same way he likes to associate himself over the years with everybody from Elizabeth Taylor to Johnny Manziel. This is the kind of star-powered storyline that practically has his fingerprints on it already.
But the Cowboys have done a fine job this offseason focusing on the real priority of building a football team, as opposed to building a marketing campaign.
And all things considered, any rumor about Shedeur to The Star is not only a needless PR move ... it'd be a wobbly football move as well.
