Cowboys' Dak Prescott Poised For 'Important Offseason' With 1 Key Decision cover image

Prescott knows the offense has to improve on what it did in 2025, and it starts with keeping one key player.

The 2025 season for the Dallas Cowboys under Brian Schottenheimer was ultimately a failure.

A 7-9-1 record meant the Cowboys would miss the playoffs for the second straight season, but it wasn't all bad.

Yes, the defense was woeful for most of the year, but Schottenheimer's offense? Yeah, it was one of the better units in football.

Dak Prescott earned his fourth Pro Bowl nod after 4,552 yards, 30 TDs, and 10 interceptions. George Pickens made his first-ever Pro Bowl after 1,429 yards and 9 TDs from 93 receptions.

Javonte Williams had a career-best season, with 1,201 rushing yards and 11 TDs as the Cowboys finally had a top run game.

With Williams and Pickens set to be free agents, the Cowboys know the value that both bring to the offense.

Cowboys COO Stephen Jones has already stated that the franchise would like Williams back on a multi-year deal, and as for Pickens, Dallas' feelings on bringing back No. 3 are clear -- they want to.

And for Prescott, he knows how important the following months are going to be.

"It's an important offseason," Prescott said via The Athletic's Jayna Bardahl. "We know we got to get that side of the ball right, but we got to make sure that we aren't complacent with what we've done on our side of the ball. We've got to get one of our guys [Pickens] signed, and make sure that we take a big step on offense."

It is clear that the Cowboys' offseason business starts with the contracts of Pickens and Williams. Also, don't forget All-Pro Brandon Aubrey, too.

Get those signed, sealed, and delivered, and the Cowboys will be off to a flying start this offseason.

Now, we know that when it comes to contracts, especially ones that look to be as large as George's, they don't often get resolved quickly. But Williams and Aubrey's should, right?

Dallas had an elite offense for most of 2025, and if Dak knows the importance of keeping it all together, I imagine Jerry and Stephen Jones do as well.

This is a chance for the Cowboys to buck the trend in how they do business and get it done with minimal fuss.

Will they do it? I think you know the answer to that.
