Overshown hasn't been sighted since Week 1, and now he's nearing a return as the Eagles come into view in Week 7.
The Dallas Cowboys' defense continues to be the topic of discussion as, through six weeks, the unit under coordinator Christian Parker has just been down right bad.
Part of that is Parker being a first-time coordinator, the other part is the injuries to his unit.
Jalen Thompson, Cobie Durant, and DeMarvion Overshown are just some of the names that Parker has been without for most of the season.
But help could be on the way.
With Dee Winters suffering a strained Achilles in the loss to the Green Bay Packers, the linebacking core is depleted, but Overshown has been pushing for a return for the past couple of weeks.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer gave his thoughts on an Agent 0 return against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.
"We'll see how D-Mo works back into practice this week, but we're hoping he returns this week."
Well, that hope it appears won't be needed.
On Tuesday, when asked if he would be taking his place against the Eagles on Monday night, Overshown was rather bullish.
"I definitely feel that, that's the plan," he said. "I'm ready for practice, it's crazy, we play on Monday now, so now I got to wait an extra day. But I'm excited. I've definitely taken this rehab, this recovery very serious. I've been trying to get back on the field since the week after I got out.
"So, getting this opportunity to go this week, I'm thankful that I'm still able to get to do what I love."
To me, that is about as much confirmation as you can have without it actually being official that Overshown is returning.
Of course, he'll have to get through practice, but it appears he's ready to suit up for the first time since Week 1.
The big knock on Overshown has been his inability to be available.
Whether it be his knee injuries or now his hamstring injury, it has been a tough time for him since he was drafted by the Cowboys.
We know what sort of player he can be, but we haven't seen it for years, and now, hopefully, with this last injury behind him, we can see the very best of Overshown.
Starting on Monday night in Philadelphia.
