Training camp is upon us, and for young edge Donovan Ezeiruaku, he's ready to help get Parker's vision off the ground.

Dallas Cowboys training camp is upon us, and for most, that means getting our first look at coordinator Christian Parker's defense in Oxnard.

How will he deploy his scheme? Who will be a camp surprise, and everything else in between is all on the table.

There has been so much talk about Parker's vision and the players at his disposal that some think a Super Bowl could be on the horizon for Brian Schottenheimer's team in 2026.

Now, as camp begins, this will be our first real chance to see what Parker has to work with and what it looks like. With Caleb Downs the centerpiece of the defense this offseason, others have been pushed into the darkness.

One is young edge Donovan Ezeiruaku.

Having a so-so rookie season, Eze then had offseason hip surgery and is ready for that famous "second-year leap" to take hold as Dallas needs more pass-rushing help.

And for Eze, who was speaking with Chris Henderson on his SeeHendo YouTube channel, the pass rusher gave his thoughts on Parker.

“Very excited to have a leader of the unit like Coach Parker,” Ezeiruaku said. “Very excited for the guys that we have in our room now. Some left, we made some additions. But it does feel a little bit different, and I'm very excited."

Of course, it is fine to talk about it being great now, but the defense hasn't faced any adversity yet. That will come in Oxnard going up against Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

And while the defense, at least on paper, looks different, we know games aren't won on paper.

And for Eze, he's well aware of what this unit has to do in 2026.

“It's easy to talk about it now before training camp, on paper, everything looks good," he added. "God willing, we have to stay healthy, I believe that we'll mesh, and the chemistry is there already from our spring that we just had to help this team win football games and to get us over that hump.

"But we have to stay healthy, put it together, and continue to trust the process, trust what Coach CP and Coach Schotty have for us. Then we got to put that work in ourselves.”

So, putting it all together is now the big task for Parker and his players, because for all the hype, it won't matter if the defense is still all at sea as it was last year.

Granted, I don't think they will be, but the players over the coming weeks are going to master Parker's scheme, get their communication right, and make life hell for the offense.

Eze knows that the coaching staff is giving them the tools to be successful, but they are the ones who have to go out and execute the vision.

And that first step comes in Oxnard.
