Romo has been placed on indefinite leave by CBS, and Bryant wants his former quarterback to go out on his own.
It hasn't been the best couple of weeks for former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
Having been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Romo has been in the news. Videos of his arrest have been going viral as he performed poorly on field sobriety tests.
And such has been the commentary around it that CBS, the network for which Romo is an analyst with Jim Nantz, decided to place Romo on leave until further notice.
It has been reported that J.J. Watt will take over Romo's role, and some have taken this piece of news to mean that the network won't be bringing Romo back.
Of course, this is just all speculation at this point, but it hasn't been the best of times for the former Dallas quarterback.
But he does have at least one person in his corner at this difficult time, and that is former teammate Dez Bryant.
With all the commentary surrounding Romo's arrest and what his future with CBS looks like, Dez took to X to put all his support behind his former quarterback.
"Lay off my QB," Dez posted on X. "As smart as Romo is and as great as he is as an analyst ..the knowledge he rarely shows the world is on another level. Romo should locks in..create and build his own thing and run circles around CBS.. 9 Just know..one decision doesn’t define the journey."
What Dez says here isn't a bad idea at all.
We have seen numerous media personalities who see their time end with a network, only to branch off and make their own podcast, talk show, or whatever, and it does well.
The internet is bursting with former NFL players who have built great platforms to give out their knowledge and insights into the world of professional football.
And if Romo did something similar, I'd imagine it would be quite the hit given how he has called games for CBS, often calling out the play before it happens.
But he is a long way from that right now, as this isn't a good time for the former Cowboy.
At least he knows he has one person in his corner who is pushing him to be the best version of himself in Dez Bryant.
