It appears that former Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee is rather bullish on what the defense can become in 2026 under Christian Parker.

When the Dallas Cowboys announced that Christian Parker was going to be their new defensive coordinator, fans and media were happy with the move.

Mostly due to the rave reviews we heard from players who had worked under Parker previously with the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles.

So, there are positive vibes around The Star and the fan base regarding what sort of impact Parker can have on a defense that was one of the NFL's worst in 2025.

Still, the bar for expectation isn't exactly too high after Matt Eberflus' efforts, but if Dallas can become just competent on defense in 2026, that will be seen as a win.

Not many are expecting miracles under Parker in his first defensive coordinator job, and one where he will also be calling plays for the first time.

But one person might be.

And that's former Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee.

"I love the Cowboys through and through," Lee said via dallascowboys.com's Tommy Yarrish. "Every single game, every single play. Love the Cowboys, love the fans, and excited to watch them next year, they're going to bounce back and have a huge year."

Hmm, a "huge" year is what grabs our attention.

But surely Lee isn't just being a Cowboys "homer," is he? He knows his stuff, and going by those who have regularly spoken to him, he's a rather smart person when it comes to football.

However, why does he think the Cowboys' defense, under Parker, is set to see big improvement?

"Getting some continuity with a new coordinator, drafting some guys, bringing some young guys in, I think this defense is going to bounce back quick because the talent is there," Lee added.

So, there is a positive mindset from Lee regarding the Dallas defense, but we aren't exactly sure there will be the sort of improvement he wants or expects.

Of course, who are we to doubt Sean Lee, but the proof will be in the pudding in the coming months.

Who will the Cowboys sign in free agency, and who will the franchise draft with its two first-round picks? Once that is all done, we will get a better idea of how the Cowboys under Parker could fare in 2026.

But right now, a big leap is certainly a big statement.
