The Dallas Cowboys' offseason has been different than what the franchise has done in previous years.
No big-name signing has come through the doors of The Star, but some nice additions have.
Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson, Cobie Durant, and PJ Locke are all decent signings and should provide Christian Parker with some starters for his defense.
However, despite filling some roster holes, there are still more that need to be addressed.
Some think another corner is needed, and linebacker is urgent.
But the Cowboys still have cap space and the draft to fill out those needs.
However, due to its free agency approach and the fact they missed out on several players, Dallas might be backed into a corner as such.
Former Cowboy Isaiah Stanback was on Good Morning Football and stated that Dallas must now hit on its first three draft picks.
"I would say, as of today, you would have to be optimistic that they're going to be better, but you really don't have a body of work or evidence to show what they're going to be," Stanback said of Parker's defense on Good Morning Football.
"There's still a lot more pieces that have to be added, specifically at the linebacker position, cornerback. They have two top 20 picks, three picks in the top 100, they're going to have to hit on those picks, they can't swing and miss."
Do the Cowboys have to hit on their draft picks?
Well, that is the goal every year, right? And this is no different.
But I feel the reason this offseason is that the Cowboys still need a couple of starters.
Granted, the franchise could add a couple of veteran players before the draft, lessening the need to make the early picks home runs (still would be nice).
But the fact that the Cowboys still have needs, and not only that, ones that require starters, puts even more pressure on the franchise to get the right players.
Dallas has been good at drafting talent early on, and this year, Will McClay and his team have two first-round picks.
Given the free agency approach and how things have gone, the Cowboys need their first-round picks to be Day 1 starters.
No pressure.
