Mingo has had his best offseason in recent memory, and he's looking ot end it with another good performance against the Saints.

The battle for the fifth wide receiver spot on the Dallas Cowboys' roster is something that has divided Dallas Cowboys fans and content creators ... in a good way.

With Jonathan Mingo not putting a foot wrong in camp or in the two preseason games, he is firming up as one who can win the battle.

But UDFA receiver Camden Brown has made a habit of making highlight plays in practice and in Dallas' two preseason outings. So a tough decision is looming for the coaching staff.

If either is cut, would they clear waivers? That's the big question, and one way to make sure you don't have to is to make the team.

With the New Orleans Saints up in Dallas' final preseason game tonight, all eyes will be on who can win the WR5 role.

For Mingo, he's made plays on offense, but perhaps more importantly, on special teams as well.

"I'm close with DeMario Davis (Jets LB), he always told me growing up, you're not a one or two receiver, you got to play special teams," Mingo said. "[It] really come down to just showing out so I can get a spot on the roster."

And Mingo is right.

We know Brian Schottenheimer has been consistent in his messaging on those on the roster bubble about how important special teams are.

But Mingo has also made plays as a receiver, hauling in his first-ever NFL touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals on a 53-yard bomb from Joe Milton.

And having another year in Schottenheimer's system, Mingo is now reaping the rewards.

"It's a nice offense," Mingo added. "A lot of coaches, they got the same formation names but they mean different things. Last year they'll say the formation, it reminded me of a formation in Carolina. So just trying to get past offenses out of my head, but I got the offense going pretty good."

And he does, posting a combined 82 yards from four receptions along with his touchdown.

So ... keep both? Cut one? Trade one?

As Mingo knows better than anyone, staying healthy is the ultimate key to making the roster, not just your play on the field.

"If you're not healthy, you're not going to be on the team," he added.
