We are at the time of the offseason where mock drafts and lists are flying off the shelves, and when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, conversation is always happening.
With Brian Schottenheimer's team not making the playoffs for a third-straight year, coupled with only a few "proper" Pro Bowlers, it wasn't the best of years for Dallas.
Still, there were a handful of players who held up their end of the bargain, and a lot who didn't.
And for Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano, he's done a neat little exercise, picking the NFL's Top 100 players. But there's an interesting catch.
He predicted who would be in the top 100 at the end of next season. So it isn't based on the 2025 season.
Let's get to it.
The Cowboys players who made the list were Dak Prescott (88), George Pickens (93), Quinnen Williams (73), and CeeDee Lamb (22). So only four make the list.
It is worth noting that Lamb was the third receiver named, before Puka Nacua (No. 4) and Ja'Marr Chase (No. 3), so that is a feather in the cap of Lamb.
But let's talk about Prescott.
Coming off, one could argue, was one of the best seasons of his career. Projecting forward, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that he again puts up big numbers, and maybe is in the MVP discussion, right?
Well, on Manzano's list, there are 14 quarterbacks ahead of him.
Bo Nix (81), Jalen Hurts (75), Jordan Love (59), Jayden Daniels (46), Trevor Lawrence (44), Justin Herbert (34), Caleb Williams (21), Drake Maye (18), Lamar Jackson (16), Matthew Stafford (15), Patrick Mahomes (10), Joe Burrow (9), and Josh Allen (1).
Are we fine with all of those predicted to have a better season than Dak? Of course, this list is subjective, but still, there's a case to be made that Prescott could have a better season, at least statistically, than some of those named above him.
So we do wonder about the exact criteria for this list, and it might just be who Manzano thinks will be better. If that is the case, I'm not sure what Herbert has done to be ahead of Prescott, as well as Lawrence.
But still, Dak as the 15th-best quarterback in football after the 2026 season does seem a little off. Still, you could argue that aside from Stafford, Dak played the quarterback position better than most. Which might lead to Prescott again being among the NFL elite in 2026.
Still, it was a fun exercise, and we will see if Manzano's list ends up being correct.
But Dak as the 15th best quarterback after the 2026 season? That seems awfully low to me.
