The Dallas Cowboys have completed their joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams, as coach Brian Schottenheimer's team got its first taste of going up against another NFL unit this offseason.
With coordinator Christian Parker's defense being the main storyline, it is no surprise to know that defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, fresh off signing his new three-year, $105.9 million deal, was in the thick of the action.
In one play, Williams can be seen bulldozing a Rams offensive lineman straight into the lap of Matthew Stafford, who was hurried, and linebacker Justin Barron picked him off, one of his three interceptions on the day.
That is what Big Q does.
A disruptive force in the middle of the defense, now that he has a full offseason of work under his belt, many are excited to see what Quinnen will look like in 2026.
And for Schottenheimer in speaking after the practice, detailed how valuable Williams is.
“Few guys jumped out, Quinnen Williams, I think we probably should keep that contract, I think that was a good contract for us,” a smiling Schottenheimer said. “Thrilled about him, what he's brought to this team from a leadership standpoint can't be talked about enough.
"He wanted to be here. It was all part of the grand scheme. We had the big trade to try to figure out something like that and couldn't be happy enough for him.”
When the Cowboys made the trade for Williams, it was seen as a good move for the franchise, with the defensive tackle excelling in the run game, but being a mid-season pickup, it was tough to get consistency in his game.
There were flashes against the Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Kansas City Chiefs, but Williams was always up against it to maintain the rage.
Well, this offseason, Williams has been all gas, no brakes as a key member of Parker's defense, and one that many think can be the difference-maker this unit needs.
Yes, it was only a practice, but Quinnen was a menace and showed exactly why the Cowboys were comfortable in paying him what they did.
For all the weapons the defense has, big Q might just be the best of the lot.
