Dak is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, and Jerry Jones wants more of the same going forward, but he knows Prescott needs help.
The 2025 season was one of the best of Dak Prescott's Dallas Cowboys career.
That might sound odd, considering the Cowboys went 7-9-1 and missed the playoffs.
But you can make the case that one or two players played quarterback better than Dak.
As such, he was in the MVP discussion midway through the year, but as the losses piled up and Prescott and the offense were asked to be perfect to compensate for the horrific defense, that ended.
Still, Dak posted 4,552 yards, 30 TDs, and just 10 interceptions en route to his fourth Pro Bowl nod.
Prescott had a competent run game with Javonte Williams and two stud receivers in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, both of whom surpassed 1,000 yards.
And that was in the first year with Brian Schottenheimer as the play-caller.
So, could we expect Dak, who is leading one of the better offenses in football, to take the unit to new heights in 2026?
Jerry Jones thinks so ... if he has more help.
“I would say better," Jerry said on how much better the offense can be. "I think that what we've done on defense, as in all parts of the game, can help make the offense better. I think he [Dak] could have had a better offense if we'd played better defense. So, I think that's possible. ...
"We have every reason to think that with Schotty and with what we're doing as a team, that Dak's best years are ahead."
So many times last season, had the defense gotten a stop late in a game, given what Dak and Co. were doing, the Cowboys would have won more games.
Yes, the offense did have its missteps as well, such as the second-half fade-outs late in the season. But for the most part, the offense held up its end of the bargain.
Now, with another full offseason under Schottenheimer, along with Lamb, Pickens, Williams, Jake Ferguson, Ryan Flournoy, Jaydon Blue, and Malik Davis, there is a real chance for this offense to be potent again.
And who knows, if the defense under new coordinator Christian Parker can improve to just be league average, the playoffs might be on the menu in 2026. ... driven by a better-than-ever Dak.
