The Cowboys have been on a signing spree of late, and their latest sees another body come into the defensive end room.
The Dallas Cowboys have continued their defensive overhaul this offseason, signing another defensive end.
That spot is seen as the one position, perhaps along with linebacker, where upgrades are needed.
Of course, we know of the franchise's desire to acquire Maxx Crosby earlier in the offseason. So now the Cowboys have returned to the Las Vegas Raiders, but have gotten a different defensive end.
Dallas has signed Charles Snowden, and the team is now taking a break for roughly five weeks before beginning training camp in Oxnard.
As a pass-rusher for the Raiders, Snowden managed nine starts in each of his last two seasons in Las Vegas, picking up 4.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits and eight tackles for loss.
Given the Cowboys' sudden edge depth, Snowden could be in the fight to make a roster spot in Oxnard.
Of course, he could also just be a camp body that the Cowboys want to get a look at as the offseason rolls on, but he does have skins on the wall and has 33 games of experience.
So, he is hardly coming into this on the back foot.
Listed at 6-6 and 250, Snowden does have some size to him, and I'd imagine coordinator Christian Parker and the defensive staff will want a good look at Charles as training camp begins.
Interestingly, in Lance Zierlein's scouting report of Snowdon, he states "potential as a 3-4 outside linebacker," and we know that is the scheme Parker is rolling out in Dallas.
Plus, per other scouting experts, he is a smooth athlete, and can set the edge, so there is some things to like, it just hasn't translated into big numbers in the NFL.
Pass rush is still widely considered a need for the Cowboys, and we still think a phone call to Crosby should be on the to-do list for Dallas.
But Snowden's signing isn't likely to impact the top of the depth chart; instead, it will further bolster the position behind the starters, and who knows, once training camp begins, Charles might surprise the coaching staff and us and become a good contributor for Parker.
He also played 231 special-teams snaps across his two seasons with the Raiders, so that could be another way that Snowden finds his way onto the roster for 2026, because we know how crucial it is for Brian Schottenheimer that players lower on the depth chart are contributing on special teams.
