Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens will be the talk of the offseason, and for good reason.
After getting his first Pro Bowl nod, thanks to amassing 1,429 receiving yards and 9 TDs from 93 receptions, all eyes will be on Pickens' contract status.
Set to be a free agent, Pickens could easily command a contract north of $30 million APY, and in truth, he's deserving of it.
But would the Cowboys want to pay Pickens that much?
Well, our own Mike Fisher has stated that the franchise tag is the easiest path for the Cowboys to keep Pickens around, with the tag set at $28 million for the 2026 season.
We have heard from Jerry and Stephen Jones, along with several players, that they want Pickens back in 2026.
And now here comes Dak Prescott with his thoughts on getting George signed.
"I think it's vital. I think it must be done," Prescott said via Tommy Yarrish. "I think obviously from Jerry to everybody down understands that, and one the impact on this offense and the team and the great player that he is, we've got to find a way to keep him here."
That is quite the statement from No. 4, and he's not wrong.
What Pickens was able to do for the offense in 2025 was superb.
His ability to get downfield, not to mention what his presence does for CeeDee Lamb on the other side of the field, is clear.
Also, keep in mind the comments of some of the Cowboys' interviewees for the defensive coordinator role, citing how hard it was to plan to face both Pickens and Lamb.
So that has to factor in as well.
With no talks happening yet, free agency is quickly approaching in under two months, and we would imagine that in an ideal world, Dallas would not sit on its hands and get a deal thrashed out.
Of course, we know the Cowboys don't do business like that all too often, but they might want to make an exception for Pickens.
He's a menace on the field and opens up everything in the passing game.
Prescott stated it's "vital" that Dallas gets this done.
And I tend to agree.
