The Cowboys have eyes on several defensive players in the draft, but there are a couple who the franchise should be eager to get.

Exactly who the Dallas Cowboys will select at No. 12 in the first round of the NFL Draft is a big topic of conversation.

We have seen several mocks have the Cowboys taking LSU corner Mansoor Delane or Miami edge Rueben Bain Jr., and some even have Ohio State safety Caleb Downs coming to The Star.

Over the past two weeks, we have been hearing rumors and seeing reports that it isn't out of the realm of possibility for the Cowboys to look to trade up and grab a defensive stud.

The Cleveland Browns at No. 6 loom as a prime candidate, with some trade proposals having Dallas send picks No. 12 and No. 20 to Cleveland to move up.

If the Cowboys sit at No. 12, there is a real chance that Sonny Styles, Downs, Bain, and Delane are all gone, which makes what Dallas does a thought-provoking exercise.

For The Athletic's Dane Brugler, he thinks the Cowboys are a team to watch to trade up with the Browns and go after a player he deems a perfect fit for Christian Parker, and that's Styles.

"I'm looking at the Cowboys specifically, they're going to be tempted to move up," Brugler said on the Rich Eisen Show. "Right now, the Cowboys don't have a player they feel comfortable wearing the green dot. Sonny Styles would be perfect for that Christian Parker defense, exactly what they're looking for.

"They have two first-round picks, could they be tempted to move up? We know the Browns are always willing to move back, maybe six could be that sweet spot for them."

So this trade-up idea is gathering momentum, and Brugler isn't just making this up and throwing it against the wall; he's plugged into the NFL and Dallas.

Would the Cowboys be willing to part ways with both first-rounders if it meant they could draft Styles?

With linebacker still a big need, if Dallas swung a trade prior to the draft to land, say, Miami Dolphins All-Pro Jordyn Brooks, that might end the urgency to move up to get Styles...or it might not.

Either way, I'm getting the sense that the Cowboys moving up in the draft from pick 12 is going to be something we will have to watch intently as the NFL Draft begins.

They would only do that for a genuine game-changer, and if it is Styles, I'd imagine Cowboys Nation will be doing backflips.
