After such a bad loss, many want the Cowboys to bring in help, but Jerry Jones doesn't think it's as easy as that.
After the Dallas Cowboys' 28-20 Week 1 loss to the New York Giants, many are calling for the franchise to add players to strengthen the roster.
For some, that means a competent linebacker like Miami's Jordyn Brooks or free agent Bobby Wagner to help the group; for others, due to the lack of pass-rush help, it means someone like the Raiders' Maxx Crosby or the Cardinals' Josh Sweat.
Given the Cowboys have ample cap space to make any move they desire, fans, after witnessing the debacle at MetLife, want the franchise to make a move or two to improve the roster.
The other side of the coin is that it is only one game. We shouldn't be overreacting to it, no matter how bad it was.
However, when what was put out on film by Christian Parker's defense was as bad as it was, maybe a quick signing to settle down a position is needed.
But for owner Jerry Jones, who was on 105.3 The Fan, simply making a move after just one game isn't exactly the right thing to do.
"Well, you temper that with availability of making moves on outside help for the roster," Jerry said. "If you wanted to, this is a narrow window of making changes on a roster at this date. You don't have a lot of moving around relative to where you were at other parts of the year.
"So, it's not something that you say we're going to reshuffle this deck after your first game.
"That's not practical."
So, Cowboys Nation, don't expect any moves this week as the Cowboys gear up to face the Washington Commanders.
Despite there being a clear need, after one game, to look at outside additions, Jerry doesn't think it is practical. Instead, staying the course with those that are already in the building.
In truth, regardless of the result, Dallas was never going to go and sign a player or two; it would have waited until closer to the trade deadline on November 10.
So, for how bad the defense was, for at least this week and possibly next, we are going to see players get a shot at some retribution after what was produced at MetLife Stadium.
No one is coming to save this defense ... yet.
