This is certainly speculative, and I'm not sure this is even a thought for the Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys, being so polarizing, are always in the news, sometimes for the better, but more often than not, for the worst.
As Brian Schottenheimer's team gears up for what is looming as a pivotal draft with the franchise having two first-round selections, all eyes are on Dallas to see what moves it will make.
Granted, most think the main item on the menu is defense, and rightly so, given the urgent needs at edge, linebacker, and corner. However, we've often stated that if a CeeDee Lamb-like blinking light is there at No. 12, Dallas will draft "pure," as Schotty said.
The Cowboys have also been linked to trades over the past week, most notably a move up to No. 6 with the Cleveland Browns.
But now, somehow, they've been named in another one.
FanSided's Jake Beckman has seven players who should be traded on draft night, and one is Kyle Pitts. And a landing spot Beckman has named in Dallas.
"The Cowboys have a lot of draft picks," Beckman wrote as the only Cowboys link.
So, let's go through this, shall we?
Yes, Dallas does have draft picks, but with two firsts, a third, three fifth-round picks, and a seventh.
But the franchise won't part ways with either first or its third. So would the Falcons trade Pitts to Dallas for a couple of fifth's? No.
Next is the double dip.
Pitts signed his franchise tag, but he's looking for a new deal with the Atlanta Falcons. Will the Cowboys trade away draft capital and then sign Pitts long-term when George Pickens' contract is still unresolved? Again, no.
Granted, if Pickens is traded during the draft or as part of this trade, then it might work, but I highly doubt it.
And lastly, the Cowboys already have Jake Ferguson, who signed a four-year, $52 million deal in July of 2025. Dallas isn't moving off of "big biscuit."
Then there's the promising Brevyn Spann-Ford, who looks to be a key part of Brian Schottenheimer's offense. Plus, Luke Schoonmaker makes up the room (potential trade bait for Pitts?).
It is a nice idea, but the Cowboys, for as good as Pitts is/could be, aren't likely going to make a move for the young tight end, mainly for the handful of reasons I listed above.
So, while it's a nice idea, it'll remain just that.
