When the offseason began, the future of Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens was the hot topic.
So much so that during the week of the Super Bowl, Pickens' contract was to many the main attraction, not the Super Bowl itself.
The Cowboys have since placed the franchise tag on George, which will see the Pro Bowl weapon make roughly $27 million in 2026 if things stay as they are.
But since the Cowboys placed the tag, there's been radio silence on George's future. ...
Until now - with the musical opposite of silence.
As our Mike Fisher coins it ...
"Cowboys In Cars Getting Coffee'' ... Or something like that, as Pickens joins teammate CeeDee Lamb in an impromptu "music video.''
Meanwhile. ...
Yes, free agency has taken a lot of attention, but signing Pickens to a long-term deal would give the Cowboys even more ammunition to go free agency shopping with.
However, it appears to some that George's future has been pushed into the background as work continues to overhaul Christian Parker's defense.
And that has led to Fox Sports' Henry McKenna questioning if Jerry is up to something, given Pickens isn't signed long-term yet.
"He would have been the No. 1 free agent on the market if the Cowboys hadn’t tagged him," McKenna wrote. "Dallas has a history of contract tomfoolery. So far, Pickens has yet to agree to an extension. What is Jerry Jones up to now?"
Is Jerry really up to something?
Or is it really as simple as George is tagged, so that's that? And free agency takes precedence?
Or is something else in the works?
We have heard multiple (goofy?) rumors of Pickens being traded. Right now, that doesn't seem like a path Dallas will go down.
Then again, we thought they'd sign Micah Parsons.
But given what Pickens has done for this offense, dealing him would signal that Dallas isn't serious about winning in 2026. Granted, some have already come to that conclusion based on the free agency activity.
As free agency winds down and the big fish are off the board, the Cowboys can still be active in bringing in key players for Parker's defense.
But the Cowboys can't forget about George, or Brandon Aubrey, for that matter.
Both have to get signed. Yet, over the past fortnight, we haven't heard a peep about either. Well, unless you count this "music video'' as a "peep.''
