A devastating red-zone penalty in Rio has analysts demanding Dallas release the former second-round pick, citing repeated mental errors and underwhelming production as his roster spot vanishes.
The fallout from the Dallas Cowboys' 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens has been brutal, and one player is taking the heat more than most.
And that's tight end Luke Schoonmaker.
With Dallas driving to win the game, it faced a second-and-goal from the Ravens' 2-yard line with a touchdown within reach.
But Schoonmaker, who was in the game as a body to block, was called for a false start, sending the offense back five yards.
Some have seen that as the pivotal moment of the game, as the Cowboys were just two yards away from winning the game, and had the entire playbook open.
And for our own Mike Fisher, he's had enough of Schoonmaker.
"Schotty, you need to cut Schoony today," Fish said on the Fish Report. "He's your third tight end at best, and (UDFA rookie) Michael Trigg can jump offside just as good as he can, and Brevyn Spann-Ford, not only is he way better than Schoony, he might be better than your starting tight end, who has a tough time getting open.
"Send a message. ... Cut Schoony; it will do nothing negative to your roster and it might wake people up."
And if you think Fish was alone in his thoughts to cut Schoonmaker, who, by the way, is in the final year of his rookie deal, well, you're wrong.
Our friend at 105.3 The Fan, Shan Shariff, has also at a gut-full of No. 86.
"I'm going to be sending Luke Schoonmaker Picanha,” Shariff said. “Picanha is the 'queen of steaks' they call it. It's Brazilian, because I would like to remind Luke where he should have been left. Should have kept his [expletive]. Cut him today. Just get rid of his [expletive], you're barely out there.
"We all love Spann-Ford and Luke Schoonmaker with a patented Dallas Cowboy mind fart with the false start that backs you up and then takes away your playbook."
Schoonmaker has barely played in the three games this season, totaling just two catches for 21 yards, while only playing 45 offensive snaps and 36 special teams snaps.
And after his crippling penalty in Rio, maybe the future of Schoonmaker - who ironically "celebrated'' his birthday on Monday - is on wafer-thin ice.
